What is PB?

Participatory Budgeting (PB) is a democratic process where community members directly decide how funds are spent to impact their community.  Starting in Porto Alegre, Brazil, during the late 1980s, PB has spread around the globe and is being used to do everything from making improvements to cities, increase civic participation, and build understanding in communities.  The process consists of collecting  and reviewing ideas, creating project proposals inspired by them, and letting the neighborhood vote on which projects they want to see become a reality.
